[05-18-15 07:00]: Tried a few things in "Configure Desktop" that require root password to apply e.g. tried to change KDM login theme but when you press <Apply>, you get this message "Unable to authenticate/execute the action: (code 4)".
I could launch Yast from "Configure Desktop" as it correctly prompts for password.
I have logged a bug report
As advised earlier, "Favorites" in the "K" menu are likely pointing to kde4 aps. Remove them and replace with kde plasma 5 aps. In the case of "Configure Desktop" (which is for kde4), to controle kde plasma 5, use "System Settings" from "Applications -> Settings", (systemsetting5).
aha.. thanks. Looks like there's a need for a one stop shop for all these sorts of things.
Note that many problems resolved here may also be the same problems you see.
