Not really, we already have per-language (locale) package choices since decades ago. e.g. fcitx5-mozc package contains the following: Provides: locale(fcitx5:ja) so that it'll be automatically installed when fcitx5 input framework is installed in Japanese locale. Admittedly, many packages still miss it and we should cover it better, though. Also, the handling for an optional package is missing; that is, a package that not everybody likes (so no need for the default installation) but is still specific to some language. thanks, Takashi
