The update-repo does get automatically inserted, but alas after the installation. So within no-time he get's pop-up's that there are so-and-so many packages waiting to be updated.
It only saves some time to add the update-repo _before_ doing the installation.
I find that updating during the installation wastes my time :-) I prefer to finish the installation from the dvd, get the system running, and start using it right away. While I configure things in the system I run the updates - instead of just looking at the screen for a long time during the installation. Of course, the installation has to work. -----Original Message----- hm, if you want to avoid wasting time, why are you installing from DVD? 1) it is way slower than installing over the network 2) the dvd holds only a subset of the official installation repository Update during installation doesn't wast time, if you add the update repo ontime. After you selected what you wanted to install, and dependancies have been sorted out, the installer is wise enough to select the updated packages directly. And they will get installed anyway. A final word, is it 100,000% bullet proof? No, not if you got caught with an rogue patch. Fortunately, patches from suse are tested before they are published. Some _other_ distro's are willing to accept/publish anything: not too many compilation errors seems to be their quality measurement >:] hw -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org
