That is usually a sign that someone failed to employ runtime cpu detection and instead hardcoded an instruction subset not everybody has, like AVX, SSE4, and so on. If and when you have the coredump, what you need is the "disas" command in gdb. The faulting instruction will be highlighted by, I think, an arrow.
