You can add any repository as an add-on from the installer if you know its URL. There was a RFE some time ago to add update repository into the list of add-on repositories (so that you could just select it from the list rather than having to fill in its URL) but it was rejected (bnc#342573).
That's pretty stupid. How can suse get updates to users needed to install? Back in 9.0, maybe, the installation image was broken, and you were required to get the update loaded in order to install the system. It was a royal pain. MS does it right in this case -- if you are online, it asks if you want to allow it to pull down updates as it installs. Claiming that updated software that replaces the installed software (which was broken) shouldn't be allowed because the updated software hadn't been tested is a bit ludicrous -- neither was the original install SW. The only possibility of getting a fixed version if the original is broken is via updates. If you have a chance to automatically turn that on for a user, that only makes sense. To not do that is shooting yourself (and the user) in the foot. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org
