That is exactly the fear. I wouldn't touch a flatpak or containers
with a ten foot pole. I don't need 3G or dependencies for every "hello world" app that I may want to install. I don't need multiple versions of the same package installed as a flatpack dependency for different apps.
Well, just because you do not need it, that does not mean other people do not need it. I had quite a few times the need for multiple versions installed.
He is not alone. I don't need it and I don't want it.
New approaches are fine if they eliminate problems and bloat. New
They do eliminate problems. Perhaps just not for you.
Not for me either
That's a little bit condescending. Flatpaks definitely have a place in the ecosystem. Currently i also am not sure if we should start every application in flatpak, but perhaps that would have an advantage. We will only see that if we build and experiment with the stuff.
That's not condescending. Why always be so sensitive? Flatpacks sometimes make sense. But certainly not as a basis for a distribution.
It would come of far less condescending, if you would back your claims
with facts and not just assertions like "flatpaks are bloated and thus
bad".
