The right thing is to not install such things on Leap. I guess you are talking about Kernel:stable which is Factory only. The one built for Leap is in Kernel:stable:Backport AFAICT.
True. Unfortunately that's expert knowledge, and there's nothing to prevent Leap users who are unaware of it from trying to install Kernel:stable packages.
It would be helpful if the Kernel:stable repository had a name that would suggest "factory only", e.g. "openSUSE_Factory" rather than "standard". Likewise for Kernel:stable:Backport.
It would help if repositories had a large description field, and both zypper and yast would display this description when attempting to add a repository, and on request.
Most Repos do have such a description, some even have a warning where not to use them on obs, I doubt this is easy to add to repository's because of there design, on the other hand the obs api should make adding it to whatever software.o.o becomes not too hard.
