Was just looking for performance articles on boot and ran into upstart -- it seems somewhat similar to systemd in that it is a replacement -- but it's design was for performance and reliability -- things that systemd doesn't seem to emphasize. Also its well documented (http://upstart.ubuntu.com/cookbook/ also in the form of a 183p PDF). and has been in use for a few years -- so it's not alpha quality like systemd. Even fedora has used it -- though I guess they are switching to systemd? I just couldn't help but notice the large amound of examples and docs -- as well as a service scripting language -- something systemd fails hard on. So why go for an unfinished alpha over upstart?
