Carlos, for the same reason we always have - in the vain hope a bug might be picked up and fixed. Having a report closed as "no longer under maintenance" is not just "somewhat frustrating", it is extremely frustrating, but what else do you propose we do?
Persuade the reporters to retry on newer version and move the bug.
This is tried on the LibreOffice, all bugs are moved to needinfo every 6 months+- and then closed if there is no activity. On most of those I had long lingering there I few time updated the product but then gave up, because unless anyone is motivated to fix it, there is no activity other than me updating few bugzilla fields.
