Hi: I am confused about how to achieve installing the Nvidia proprietary video driver, and what packages should I actually see when / if Nvidia proprietary is correctly installed. I was following the steps here https://en.opensuse.org/SDB:NVIDIA_drivers After zypper addrepo --refresh http://http.download.nvidia.com/opensuse/leap/42.3 NVIDIA zypper install-new-recommends There were no recommends (contrary to what the page appears to indicate) I did then remove xf86-video-nouveau from Yast. There was a question I did not take a note on, something to do with Mesa-dri-nouveau that I accepted to pull; at that point, some nvidia packages were pulled in. Now I have a combination of nvidia and nouveau packages: rpm -qa | grep -e "nvidia\|nouveau" x11-video-nvidiaG03-340.102-18.1.x86_64 nvidia-uvm-gfxG03-kmp-default-340.102_k4.4.76_1-18.1.x86_64 nvidia-gfxG03-kmp-default-340.102_k4.4.76_1-18.1.x86_64 libdrm_nouveau2-32bit-2.4.76-1.2.x86_64 libdrm_nouveau2-2.4.76-1.2.x86_64 Mesa-dri-nouveau-17.0.5-174.2.x86_64 nvidia-glG03-340.102-18.1.x86_64 libvdpau_nouveau-17.0.5-174.2.x86_64 nvidia-computeG03-340.102-18.1.x86_64 Is this ok? I would expect to not see any nouveau there at this point. Also now when I do zypper install-new-recommends The following NEW package is going to be installed: xf86-video-nouveau 1 new package to install. I do not want that. How do I actually make this work without being forced to go back?
