Tumbleweed snapshot 20160730 NVIDIA drivers gone again..! THANK YOU!!!
You are whining on the wrong place. Complain to nvidia, that their driver is crap.
Unfortunately, this is just one half of the truth and I can't leave this uncommented - Nouveau is currently crap, too. There are several open issues a #fdo concerning serious errors, mainly hangups after a while, on different hardware (included my one, HP ZBook 15). Some of them are stuck months or even years. I don't care so much about OpenGL 4 or similar features. If nouveau will be at least as stable as the proprietary nvidia driver I'll be glad to get rid of nvidia again. No developer does even comment the issues, whether it is worth to retry in the new kernel or whether there is a workaround. I rechecked nouveau in each new major kernel version without success, it works a few minutes but the system just hangs up after a while.
I have no problems with nouveau, it does the job i need done quite happily -- Qt: 5.6.1 KDE Frameworks: 5.24.0 kf5-config: 1.0 KDE Plasma: 5.7.3 Kernel: 4.7.0-1-default "openSUSE Tumbleweed (20160805) (x86_64)" -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org
