That'll be an interesting experiment. We'll see how this works out. It is a very concrete example of where things can seriously go awry by sticking to "old" stuff. This will be very interesting.
Another point of interest, is that bugzillas against SLE are private by default. Many more bugzillas than currently will have to cross the "frontier" now...
That's a good point. I personally think that it would be good for SUSE to adopt a rule similar to what Mozilla uses, "everything (bug reports in this case) is open [by default], unless there is a really good argument why it should be (temporarily?) hidden from the public". That rule is pretty flexible, and at Mozilla we tend to err on the side of openness when there is doubt, but that can be handled as needed. But I don't see any good reason why bug reports on common and/or FLOSS packages need to be kept closed by default - unless they are security issues, which should be kept closed until a public advisory is published. All that said, the openSUSE community can't decide the policies of SUSE, of course. I'm just saying that I think such a rule would make sense.
