I did purchase the HP Desktop 2720, an all-in-one printer/scanner/copier, for which I found a solution for a proper printer driver. However I was unable to install the driver for the scanner. This one is present in the newest version of hplip, however I was unable to build that package for openSUSE.
Is it possible to have this newer version supported in openSUSE? I mainly do my work in Tumbleweed.
Unfortunately, you make no reference to version numbers you imply. But checking the HP website, the latest version is 3.20.11, which has been in Tumbleweed since Snapshot 20210115.
At this time, I don't think anybody can deliver anything newer.
cheers, Dominique
Thanks. On the website of hplip I found that my all-in-one device should support scanning - indeed from version 30.20.5 -, which I could not configure via "yast scanner". It showed three items one via IP, one via USB and another via its serial number. None of these could be activated. Only after "echo escl > /etc/sane.d/dll.d/escl" from Stefan Brüns a fourth item appeared, which could be used in xsane. Many thanks to all who answered. -- fr.gr. member openSUSE Freek de Kruijf
