What's the problem with zypper se here? 'zypper in vlc' cannot find a provider of libaa.so.1 either.
Please see http://mailman.videolan.org/pipermail/vlc/2010-October/019533.html for the reason why I ask (which omits the openSUSE version involved).
Good morning, as I'm the maintainer of the VLC repos, let me try to answer some questions here. The current VLC repos all carry already vlc 1.1.4, except the long obsoleted 11.0 repo (which was announced to be removed long ago... just was not done to keep some users happy). So this user is apparently running either openSUSE 11.0, or he's not aware of even the version of Linux he runs (well: would he know which windows he runs?) and he added the wrong repo in first place. In case he's running openSUSE 11.0, then well: without the 11.0 base repos there will probably not be any joy (which was at the time what provided libaa.so.1). So the suggestion to the user would be: move up to a recent version (and supported version) of openSUSE.
