Hello there, according to https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Power_management since Kernel 4.15 there is a new setting med_power_with_dipm that should make it safe to use SLPM. This has become the default setting in Kernel 4.16 (supposedly?). I wonder if this will be backported to the 4.12 Kernel in Leap 15 since it greatly reduces idle power on notebooks. Thanks.
