kdump is completely missing for example.
I think that the upstream still discuss the Kexec/Kdump with Secure boot.
This THU at Linux Plumbers Conference, http://www.linuxplumbersconf.org/2013/ocw/sessions/1095 >>> Discuss how to make kexec/kdump work with secureboot
I don't have secure boot (lucky me and my old hardware :-) but still no kdump with dracut. So it's quite clear that SLES12 will not be able to use dracut in its current form => there will be a maintained mkinitrd version which is good enough for me.
From openfate https://features.opensuse.org/310491 ( Add dracut to openSUSE ), Frederic @comment#14 (2011-12-15 14:27) list the following missing features in dracut :
dsdt support (skeleton in place) blogd cifs rtc / zoneinfo EC2 (but it is just a workaround) kdump mtab "migration" "supported" option for kernel module netconsole May be this still true for 12.x and even 13.1 beta if no one update or enhance ? So, your old machine can not use kdump under Dracut. Then this is not related to Kexec/Kdump work with UEFI(secure boot) topic anymore. thanks, Jeffrey
