Perhaps another thing that will set us apart from the rest is being friendly to container-based deployments by not including anything more than is necessary.
Yes, but call the pattern "container minimal". Calling it "server" makes it seem like it's for a... you know... server. Which elicits thoughts of a physical machine in my language.
Absolutely. A virtual server too, but first and foremost real iron.
I think there's plenty of room for a 2nd minimum pattern for containers, if that's what we believe is really popular. Maybe we need some patterns for Raspis and Anduinos too.
We had a similar discussion years ago. Some people (I will not say "many", as I don't know for sure), said that it was way too minimal to be of use. The typical response was to add extras later. I also think there should be more "minimal" variants. Me, seeing the wording "minimal server" would expect it to have more things. Certainly YaST, in text mode at least. Dunno, maybe it is easier to run a command to add yast than it is to remove it :-? Why would I need yast in a minimal pattern? To configure network, for instance. - -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R.
