About a year ago I stumbled upon this. (I usually save all interesting commands for later use)
/lib64/ld-linux-x86-64.so.2 --help
I can't say for sure that it actually proves that the cpu is up to it. Have a look under: "Subdirectories of glibc-hwcaps directories, in priority order:"
