Success! There is an apache2.service file in /lib/systemd/system

SO, it is not a bug after all, you simple missed what systemctl enable apache2.service is all about...
It was a bug in that it wasn't automatically started as before and not a bug due to unfamiliarity with the foibles of systemd, not knowing there was a apache2.service - same thing accomplished via a different route. # systemctl enable apache2.service ln -s '/lib/systemd/system/apache2.service' '/etc/systemd/system/multi-user.target.wants/apache2.service' # Regards Sid.
