I actually like that stuff does not lie around just because of lazy maintainers but is this really how it's supposed to work? It seems I simply should drop my maintainer role for this package.
Even better: Make YYYYY bugowner of that package.
We had a similar issue in Virtualization (with a long list of maintainers), so to avoid incomplete qemu requests getting accepted (in particular .in file updates frequently missing) we set a Reviewer, so that if another Maintainer wants to accept an SR they get a warning.
