@Doug - It would help if you supplied more information. First of all, "HP" and "Epson" don't mean much, there are lots of printers from both manufacturers requiring very different settings. You need to tell us the models, and how you connect to the printer (locally/USB, network, ...). What exactly did you do on Mint to configure the printers? Which tools were you using? If it's a network printer, you may need to check your firewall settings. In particular, you probably need to allow the mdns service: firewall-cmd --zone=home --add-service=mdns (replace the zone name with whatever you are using for your local interface) and restart avahi-daemon.service (make sure it's enabled). Then check if avahi finds any printers by running avahi-browse -t _ipp._tcp avahi-browse -t _ipps._tcp avahi-browse -t _printer._tcp For HP, you may want to try the tools hp-setup or hp-toolbox from the hplip package. They usually do quite a good job detecting your printer. For recent network printers, you must enable the MDNS protocol for device detection. The tools should also tell you whether you need the proprietary hplip plugin (run hp-plugin for that - maybe if Mint ships this out of the box it might explain why the printer worked on Mint and not on openSUSE. openSUSE simply can't ship it for legal reasons). For Epson, I can't say much. openSUSE ships the same basic printing software as Mint, so indeed, if the printers work on Mint, they should also work on openSUSE. One issue that we currently have on openSUSE is that the YaST printer module has become outdated and doesn't work as smoothly as it used to. As Bernhard already said, I'd try the cups web interface (https://localhost:631 -> Administration -> Add printer -> login with user "root" and your root password). If all else fails, check the printer database on openprinting.org for information about your printers. Regards Martin
