It might useful to have a "common" way of packaging xulrunner / firefox across distributions, which "could" help influence Mozilla in the future.
The only reason why Firefox-on-top-of-xulrunner still works somehow is the work of the distributions. Mozilla doesn't really care and breaks it very often (not really intentionally but they do not test this setup and they ignore it for their design plans). I'm really starting to wonder if it's worth the effort.
I'm probably talking to myself on that list but anyway there is an archive at least :-( Discussed that again with other distributions and Fedora and Debian are still planning to keep the split. So as I'm not alone with my efforts I decided to stay there as well for the time being. I've fixed the localization packaging now but it still has minor issues which I try to sort out along the way. The "omnijar" issue I probably mentionend is being worked on and therefore there isn't much disadvantage left to justify a change at the moment. Next Firefox 4 beta (b7) is meant to arrive soon and I'll sync out my work into mozilla:beta at that point.
