Has anyone any idea why posts I make to this list sometimes appear twice, with occasionally an hour or so between them? I'm certainly not sending them twice, and I don't see this behaviour with any of the many other lists I subscribe to. Looking at the headers, they are being duplicated by your end - since the suse list handling box is getting them injected twice. However your copy of exchange is putting no received headers or anything else of any use into the header set, so its just some MS mystery. You need to look at the logs on your end. Nigel.

I don't use exchange, just the OE newsreader. My logs (via my Linux router) show the messages go out once only. I post to a couple of dozen other lists and never see this behaviour. My best guess is that the ntl smtp relay somehow misunderstands the SUSE listserver and is resending unnecessarily. No use in asking ntl about that, though (or anything else for that matter...) Anyway, just so people who get irritated by these double posts know it's NOT my fault... Michael --------------------------------------------------------- Michael Beddow http://www.mbeddow.net/

Could be. Further checking of other list mail shows that the suse mailing system or MLM is stripping the original received lines from the messages, making any form of diagnosis impossible. Nigel.

Ah - but it will be interpreted by MS users as being so because you are not using their 'exchange' software. -- Alan Davies Head of Computing Birkenhead School

It's okay. I've found the delete key on my workstation. Apparantly it's quite easy to delete mails! I'll be happy to run some courses for MS users on where to find their delete keys too. Email me directly for an application form - rather than post to the list. ;) -- Matt __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Find the one for you at Yahoo! If you like, I'll write you a little appendix on how to use kill lists to deal with stupid sarcasm like yours (no smiley present or intended) Michael --------------------------------------------------------- Michael Beddow http://www.mbeddow.net/

I'm on NTL so it should happen with this if its NTL - I'm posting this from Kmail though not OE or Outlook. -- IanL Open Source - save money - employ more teachers Use Star Office the free replacement for Microsoft Office
