Hi there- and happy new year! By the sounds of it, you have a perfectly *capable* server, if not a need for extra storage and maybe some RAM? At this time, you could opt for a new server for file/print services running, say, SuSE or Red Hat, but there will be a learning curve for your techies. You could (shock) on the other hand stick with what you've got and just add a second NT server with similar RAID configuration and delegate it storage or some such task. The costs of this option are known widely; in fact, even with the learning curve, I'd opt for the former (Linux). Perhaps it would be worth talking with the firm Frank recommended. Or maybe you could consider building a server yourself (great for the techies too). Make the server your file/print server, let it house the /home directories and run SAMBA on it as either a PDC (current versions only) or just file/print authenticating through the NT PDC. Either way, you really need some space there :-) Your CD Server would be worth *fixing* with the latest software, and that may extend the warranty or support--always worth it in the long run. Since you are a *language* school, you also no doubt run highly proprietary software which runs only on Windows, so sticking with the main PDC would be a good idea for now. Like Frank has already said, there are many good books and support lists that will help with the setting up of a Linux server in any configuration imaginable. Use those sources and make an informed decision. When all is put on the scales, Linux I am sure will seem very attractive as opposed to the alternatives. However, I would stick with one of the more *known* brand names as given above, since they offer some nice configuration tools and excellent support services themselves. HTH a little! Good luck!!
