[opensuse-edu] EDU-CD (DVD) for openSUSE 11.0. make the point
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Well, right now we are on a great status with edu-cd development, so i think, we should make the point. First of all, i added 2 new packages, one is GNS3 that is a graphical network simulator (it is used to simulate CISCO IOS) that succesfull build; the second is kradview as wishlist request. Second : we have only 4 packages on 32 bit and 6 on 64bit that fail, and right now, i have no idea how to fix them. But don't worry, suse 11.0 is the one that have more succeded packages build 194 an x86 and 154 on x86_64 right now we have edu-cd beta1 that need to be tested as soon as possible, also because on october we have a project on mind on italian schools that need a stable addon. (did you remeber about DIDASCA?) 3rd thing to end.. we should start to work on docs and on EDU-BOOK. Thanks for attention, waiting for replys! Yes, full ACK!

http://en.opensuse.org/GNS3 is currently empty :-( => http://en.opensuse.org/Education/Development#Education_Packaging_Policy_.28d... "add a description in the openSUSE wiki. We use a special template so users can find education packages easily. " Even no update in the pattern files.... ^^^ Please fix :-) FYI: Updated packages from my side: - LabPlot - python-numpy - GnomeSword - iTalc most of them are bugfix releases.

Only one package (klayout) is available in earlier versions. I've already contacted the author - but he's to busy with other things to fix his application. I'm fine with leaving out the other packages, but normally klavaro should be fixed, so users can upgrade from earlier (10.3) releases. What do you think? Should we make an exception for klavaro?

Any suggestions about: 1) a meeting (please send me your list of topics - and desired time) The meeting should be announced via news.opensuse.org - so the nearest timeframe should be next week. 2) the next milestone (Beta2 or already RC1?) for 11.0 - including the date.
3rd thing to end.. we should start to work on docs and on EDU-BOOK.
Yes! As already mentioned, there's no reason to wait any longer - the 10.3 release is branched, so even the images can be replaced to fit the new YaST layout. This is a wonderful tool, we are a lucky to have this opportunity. We must remember, sometimes it is easier for us all to read English then to hear it . I wish I could read a European language :( How would we coordinate the usage if everyone else would like to try? I am happy to give it a chance. indeed that's true, that's why i have to test the enviroment before use on meeting -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-edu+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-edu+help@opensuse.org

I'm a torn between using the newest technology and loosing possible participants who know IRC but not how to join the Webinar... What about using the "standard" IRC channel for the next meeting (so we can announce it today) and play with the new tool and write HowTos in different languages until we have the next meeting? Same here....
Even no update in the pattern files....
^^^ Please fix :-)
That is a my choice.. GNS3 is an educational tool that is born to help CISCO CCNA, CCNP (ecc) students, that means that even if your son is a genius and he is studying networks (ISO/OSI Model, Routing Protocols, Frame Relay, ecc) he will not need it, so IMHO it should not be installed bye a pattern. If somebody don't agree, i'll add it on patterns.
FYI: Updated packages from my side: - LabPlot - python-numpy - GnomeSword - iTalc most of them are bugfix releases.
always the best, and the most active here :D

what's exactly wrong with klavaro? right now it has been succesfully built

yep, we need it.
2) the next milestone (Beta2 or already RC1?) for 11.0 - including the date.
i think a Beta2, we have all the time to test it in the best way
3rd thing to end.. we should start to work on docs and on EDU-BOOK.

Agreed: please add it in the "Psg" file - so the package will be shown in the pattern, but not installed. The user has to select it manually - but he will see it when he's opening the pattern and perhaps he's interested.... :-) With kind regards, Lars -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-edu+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-edu+help@opensuse.org

Not klavaro, klayout :-) https://build.opensuse.org/package/live_build_log?arch=i586&package=klayout&project=Education%3Adesktop&repository=openSUSE_11.0 This package has a broken Template declaration - but fixing this needs imo a further look into the code. Problem: the gcc on 11.0 doesn't allow such invalid typedefs.
