Does anyone know of any good Open Office Tutorial / Training materials which would be suitable to give to staff as a crash course to OO.org from MS Office? I have been rolling out machines, but the current snag seems to be training. Thanks Rob Keeling Network Manager Queen Elizabeth`s Grammar School

No, but I think openoffice.org's documentation people and theingots.org are good places to ask, as well as here. -- MJR/slef My Opinion Only and possibly not of any group I know. http://mjr.towers.org.uk/ jabber://slef@jabber.at Creative copyleft computing services via http://www.ttllp.co.uk/ Thought: "Changeset algebra is really difficult."
I would be rather surprised if much in the way of transfer training was req uired. Our experience has been that staff have little or no difficulty switching, once they get over the "but it's different!" mind set. The only real issue I have had is with database connections. Otherwise, just tell them to look under the format menu! John Low

Just to let you know that we are working on getting a grant to fund a database reporter and to make connectivity easier between OO.org and free databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL etc. Not certain but £3000 is going into the feasibility and we have a good working relationship with the OO.org project and Birmingham Uni computing department on this. So there is hope! OpenOffice.Org 1.0 Resource Kit by Solveig Haugland, Floyd Jones obtain from Amazon.com, has the definitive book on OO.org. Every school library should have a copy.

Hi, I agree that the database handling of OO is actually quite good - though it will only handle flatfiles in its native (dBase) format - as far as I can see anyway! Add a MySQL server to the machine and it will do everything. What OO screams out for is a macro recorder :-) ===== rgds, Richard Rothwell -------------------------------------------------------------------- GNU and Wine are rirds.
