Hi all
I have just done a clean install over sus 8.0 on one of our servers. I noticed that I am now able to login as root over ssh.
I know in 7.3 I used to be able to set in /etc/rc.config to disable remote root access, but as of the new config changes in 8 I can't find where to configure this.
SuSE appear to have changed quite a bit between 7.3 and 8, which can be rather annoying. Assuming things are reasonably standard check out /etc/ssh/sshd_config and look for the line "PermitRootLogin yes" change the yes to a no then do "rcsshd restart" -- Mark Evans St. Peter's CofE High School Phone: +44 1392 204764 X109 Fax: +44 1392 204763
