With the new features in 1.1 it was becoming evident to me that there may now be a fully featured database frontend buried in OO.o. I therefore decided to test drive it for a simple library database application. I had no problem getting it connected to MySQL using the J connector and ODBC. I then began to set up tables only to realise that autoincrement fields are not properly supported (i believe there is a bug report) and that editing an already created table is a problem. I was diisapointed, because this basic lack of functionality negates much of the excellent coding of the developers in supplying advanced functions. Tables created in OO.o can be edited in Knoda or Webmin to produce autoincrement fields which can then be read by OO.o and used in the form autopilot but this does not help windows users or ordinary users who cannot use Webmin. When I was using the DB part of OO.o i did not feel confident that it would maintain the integrity of my data. It lost its connection to MySQL after being left for a while - and this was on a local connection. If this problem can be fixed I am ready to use OO.o for all my database teaching. regards garry saddington
