[opensuse-doc] Lfl Query
Hi, I have decided to learn more about openSUSE including compiling from source, which files to edit to change certain settings and configurations etc. Would the Lfl be the right place to start? I have downloaded the lessons4lizards-fop.pdf file and wonder if this is the right file and if there is a mailing list that could inform me of updates or a new file that has been uploaded? Is there a file for Lfl, like a free on-line book, about how openSUSE works Regards Hylton --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-doc+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-doc+help@opensuse.org

Well, it depends. If you want to learn how to compile a book from XML source, then yes you are right here. However, if you want to learn more about source codes in general, how to compile the Linux kernel, KDE programs, etc. then other sources are better.

The mentioned file is an "extension" of our official books that cover more exotic topics. If someone writes an article about how to compile or debug programs we can include it. However, LfL does not cover developer issues, it is more targeted for the system administrator or user. About the updates: At the moment there is no special mailinglist or procedure that informs users about updates of this PDF. Of course, we can write on opensuse-doc to announce updates. Or maybe we can add an Atom or RSS feed. That could reach users that are not subscribed to this list. I am not sure. Help is appreciated as 10.3 is lurking and demanding attention. :)

I don't know of any. Probably a single file won't be enough. ;) I am sure, there are good articles on the Wiki about the build server and how to compile programs. Of course, I would recommend also to look into our documentation for 10.3 (mainly Reference and Start Up).
