[opensuse-buildservice] 3D project in the buildservice
hi, i look for a project for aqsis atm. aqsis is a renderman compliant renderer. i think yafray and blender could live in the same project. (cc'ed maintainers) now the question is: how to name the new child. "graphics:3d" sounds reasonable. any objections? we have this multimedia:photo atm ... which could be moved to graphics:pixel or graphics:photo ... i would like to create the project this evening. so ... complain early. :) sorry for the late mail about it ... darix -- openSUSE - SUSE Linux is my linux openSUSE is good for you www.opensuse.org --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-buildservice+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-buildservice+help@opensuse.org

+1 Just noticed Pavel is already maintaining blender RPMs. I'll discontinue mine. cheers -- -o) Pascal Bleser http://linux01.gwdg.de/~pbleser/ /\\ <pascal.bleser@skynet.be> <guru@unixtech.be> _\_v http://www.fosdem.org http://opensuse.org

cheers I do not like graphics:3d name much, it is confusing.
graphics:modelling is better IMHO (as Aqsis already suggest) I already have blender in my home project (home:pnemec) i will move it there. while modelling fits for blender. it does not fit for aqsis for yafray. and graphics:rendering might do. but the aqsis team argued that rendering can be also 2d (like rendering svg e.g.) i think a project that collects all tools needed for 3d graphics might be nice. no matter if it is a render or modelling tool. darix -- openSUSE - SUSE Linux is my linux openSUSE is good for you www.opensuse.org --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-buildservice+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-buildservice+help@opensuse.org

I still think graphics:modeling is better, in spite of it will hold packages for defining modeling, rendering, animating, or whatever. I also do not get why separate and distinguish 3d and 2d. It is kind of programmer approach IMHO, not user one.

I think projects directories are not so important, just tell me where i should move blender and i will do it. But, please do as few directories as possible ;) Pavel -- Pavel Nemec Software Engineer --------------------------------------------------------------------- SuSE CR, s.r.o. e-mail: pnemec@suse.cz Lihovarska 1060/12 tel:+420 284 028 981 190 00 Praha 9 fax:+420 296 542 374 Ceska republika http://www.suse.cz

I'd have to agree with this, maybe the 2D/3D separation thing is going a little *too* far... perhaps just focusing on the applications main group (like 'graphics/animation', 'graphics/modeling', 'graphics/rendering', etc) is enough ??? If there's no objections I'd be happy going this route. Leon Tony Atkinson Aqsis Team Member www.aqsis.org
