[Bug 1162427] New: Tumbleweed Update repository may be unnecessary
http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1162427 Bug ID: 1162427 Summary: Tumbleweed Update repository may be unnecessary Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Tumbleweed Version: Current Hardware: Other OS: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Installation Assignee: yast2-maintainers@suse.de Reporter: i@guoyunhe.me QA Contact: jsrain@suse.com Found By: --- Blocker: --- Every openSUSE Tumbleweed installation has a repository called "openSUSE-Tumbleweed-Update", and its URL is https://download.opensuse.org/update/tumbleweed/ First, the URL doesn't exist but is redirected to https://download.opensuse.org/repositories/openSUSE:/Factory:/Update/standar... Second, the redirected directory only contains some test-* packages. Third, these packages are out-dated. The newest package is from 2018. Can it be removed from default installation if here is no special reason to keep it? -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

But there are always exceptions when stuff needs to reach users quicker than the formal staging/QA/prodbuild/fullQA cycle would take. For this reason there is the update channel. Removing it from a default install would mean to lose the ability git express sec fixes (or pushing fixes while larger issues in the regular prod channel are being worked out) -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
