8 gigs of ram is bit a lot for plasma to eat indeed.
4G RAM + 4G swap :-)
Could you attach valgrind to the process to see when/why is it leaking?
I'll try, I haven't played with valgrind for a few years. Can I just attach it to /usr/bin/plasmashell and leave it running on a pseudo console?
Also do you have some fancy widgets in there?
Nope, it's almost a vanilla Leap42 installation. I've changed some of the graphics options, I think that's all. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

I forgot, you can't just attach valgrind to a running process. Where do I add it, Tomas? In /etc/xdg/autostart/plasmashell.desktop ? -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

Created attachment 672384 [details] another oom kill
For a while now, nouveau has been causing plasmashell to crash so frequently that the leak never caused a problem. About a week ago, I switched graphics card and nouveau has stopped crashing plasmashell. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
