[Bug 1165359] New: kmozillahelper crash, presumably due to uploading file
http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1165359 Bug ID: 1165359 Summary: kmozillahelper crash, presumably due to uploading file Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Distribution Version: Leap 15.1 Hardware: Other OS: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: KDE Applications Assignee: opensuse-kde-bugs@opensuse.org Reporter: opensuse.lietuviu.kalba@gmail.com QA Contact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- Created attachment 831640 --> http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/attachment.cgi?id=831640&action=edit Backtrace Application: kmozillahelper (5.0.5) Qt Version: 5.9.7 Frameworks Version: 5.55.0 Operating System: Linux 4.12.14-lp151.28.36-default x86_64 Distribution: "openSUSE Leap 15.1" In Firefox I selected DOCX file, I selected to open it with LibreOffice instead of saving it (thus document was saved in /tmp/mozilla_USER0/ directory). After some modifications, I saved document into another location but with same name. Then I selected to upload this document. Site reported that for unknown reason uploaded document/archive is corrupted; I tried several times; but problem was same. Finally I get this kmozillahelper crash. See attachement for backtrace. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

Can you reproduce it reliably? I could create a package for you to test then, so we can be sure that it really is the same crash. You can try the packages from here if you want: https://download.opensuse.org/repositories/home:/wolfi323:/branches:/OBS_Mai...
I'll submit an update anyway though, as there are quite a few upstream crash reports (for several different applications) that should be fixed by this. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

Created attachment 831652 [details] backtrace - while creating multiple subfolders in file chooser
I can reproduce bug described in https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=401916 in FireFox too: I press download file, then create subdirectory within file choser, then another subfolder in new directory and repeating this few times. I attach backtrace. You can compare this and previous.
However I am not sure, whether it is same bug. I can not reproduce my original sequence. I hope the cause is same, and I can help testing.
Well, the backtrace is quite the same, and the discussion in https://phabricator.kde.org/D23875 indicates that the crash actually can happen in other circumstances as well (e.g. when copying files). I cannot reproduce the crash here on my Leap 15.1 system with the latest KDE Frameworks 5.67.0 (so it seems it is indeed fixed), but I'll try on a 15.1 LiveCD later... -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

Here may be difference: Leap 15.1 by default has KDE Frameworks 5.55 -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

I know, that's why I wrote I'm going to try a LiveCD as well... ;-) My point was that it indeed seems to be fixed in newer KDE Frameworks versions than the one in Leap 15.1, so the upstream patch should actually work as intended (it is part of KDE Frameworks since 5.63.0). -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

I was easily able to reproduce the crash, kmozillahelper crashed already when creating the 2nd folder in the . ... when creating the 2nd folder in the "Save As" dialog.
