Installation with ACPI enabled worked fine but trying to boot post-installation delays displaying the bootsplash unless acpi=off is specified for so long that until I started typing the output when it freezes (copying from her screen) I thought it was failing. Having determined that it doesn't actually fail, I'll attach the output of dmesg. Could you try to go through you BIOS settings and check that all devices are enabled? Alas, it also meant that X no longer worked as the onboard ATI card requires the proprietary drivers so I have had to revert to the 10.3 kernel.
