[Bug 1188012] New: internet access failed for URL
http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1188012 Bug ID: 1188012 Summary: internet access failed for URL Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Distribution Version: Leap 15.2 Hardware: Other OS: openSUSE Leap 15.2 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Basesystem Assignee: screening-team-bugs@suse.de Reporter: guenter.halt@halt-hoenow.de QA Contact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- since a short time ( 1 week?) no URL can be connected. The problem is that the /etc/resolv.conf is empty, however the yast-networkconfiguration contains 2 DNS-Adresses ( 8.8.8.8 and 1.1.1.1 ) I can solve that temporary by an additional run-level-script (write both addresses to /etc/resolv.conf and execute rcnetwork restart ) After this it works fine. On an second PC (Leap 15.2 too ) this problem dos not occurred. The last system-update on this Laptop was done for an long time!! remarks: my internetprovider (Vodefone-Kabel) changed for a short time the modem to a FritzBox 6490 Cabel In the first days i have had no problems. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

Please remove /etc/resolv.conf (delete or move away) and re-establish / reconfigure the connection to regenerate it. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1188012 http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1188012#c3 --- Comment #3 from Gnter Halt <guenter.halt@halt-hoenow.de> --- o.k. i removed it but /etc/resolv.conf is not a regularly file, it is a link to run/netconfig/resolv.conf. If i write DNS-IP-Addresses to /etc/resolv.conf , the link will be not modified or changed. Only /run/netconfig/resolv.conf is modified. This file will be created during (new) boot of system. Remove /etc/resolve.conf has no effect. After run yast-> system -> Netzwerkeinstellungen eth0 configured as DHCP-Clienet (without DNS-Servers) the /etc/resolv.conf is created again. However after boot "ip a" shows a valid local IP-Address , the /etc/resolv.conf is empty (no lines). On the same PC Linux-Mint is installed. On this system the /etc/resolv.conf contains lines, not written by my !!! nameserver 127.0.0.53 options edns0 trust-ad search fritz.box -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

On Laptop (it works fine) i found a big difference to the PC for file /etc/sysconfig/network/config On PC this file contains only 3 lines: NETCONFIG_DNS_POLICY="default" NETCONFIG_DNS_STATIC_SEARCHLIST="search fritz.box" NETCONFIG_DNS_STATIC_SERVERS="127.0.0.53 83.169.184.33 8.8.8.8" This lines was inserted in the yast-network-configuration-widget The same file on laptop contains 303 lines ????? In the next step i copy this "long file" to my PC. It takes .... -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1188012 http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1188012#c5 --- Comment #5 from Gnter Halt <guenter.halt@halt-hoenow.de> --- now i copied the file /etc/sysconfig/network/config from Leap15.2-Laptop to Leap15.2-PC Remove the script to insert lines to /etc/resolv.conf and after running yast-> system -> Netzwerkeinstellungen (insert static DNS-Addresses) the /etc/resolv.conf contains now all server-addresses. After reboot it works fine. I am very sure, that before this problem occurred, all process started by yast-network has been terminated (no kill, no shutdown, no logout ... ) May bee it was a hazard. Please remember in case of other bug-messages. For me, you can close this bug. Thank you. Gnter -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
