[Bug 1056919] New: Add setting to disable media buttons on lock screen
http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1056919 Bug ID: 1056919 Summary: Add setting to disable media buttons on lock screen Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Tumbleweed Version: Current Hardware: Other OS: Other Status: NEW Severity: Enhancement Priority: P5 - None Component: KDE Workspace (Plasma) Assignee: opensuse-kde-bugs@opensuse.org Reporter: PVince81@yahoo.fr QA Contact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- For security and privacy reasons, one might want to disable the media buttons from the lock screen. After raising https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=384264 I understand that the media buttons are embedded from inside the look and feel package, and openSUSE provides its own here: plasma5-theme-openSUSE-42.1.1-22.1.noarch The media buttons are defined here: /usr/share/plasma/look-and-feel/org.openSUSE.desktop/contents/lockscreen/LockScreenUi.qml line 183. The idea would be to provide a look and feel specific setting (if technically possible) to allow users to disable these media buttons. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

It is *not* possible to provide a "look and feel specific setting" for this. The look and feel/lockscreen theme can "decide" to show them or not, but it's currently not possible to have that configurable. I think removing the media control buttons in openSUSE would not be a good idea, because it would likely lead to bug reports that this new feature doesn't work in openSUSE (but does in other distributions)... Also, currently we don't even provide our own screenlocker theme, and just use the one from the upstream default Breeze LNF/theme in the openSUSE LNF. There is a patch currently in review to add an option to the screenlocker settings though: https://phabricator.kde.org/D9601 Seems to be targeted for Plasma 5.12, which we will of course submit to Tumbleweed when it is released (and it will also be used in the upcoming Leap 15). -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
