[Bug 1049681] New: Many X clients crash with SIGSEGV
http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1049681 Bug ID: 1049681 Summary: Many X clients crash with SIGSEGV Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Distribution Version: Leap 42.3 Hardware: x86-64 OS: Other Status: NEW Severity: Critical Priority: P5 - None Component: X.Org Assignee: xorg-maintainer-bugs@forge.provo.novell.com Reporter: rath@itsm.uni-stuttgart.de QA Contact: xorg-maintainer-bugs@forge.provo.novell.com Found By: --- Blocker: --- Created attachment 733152 --> http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/attachment.cgi?id=733152&action=edit firefox strace In the newest release of OpenSUSE Leap 42.3 nearly all important X clients (firefox, thunderbird, gimp, inkscape...) crash with SIGSEGV. XFCE (my main desktop environment) doesn't work at all, KDE/Plasma 5 crashes in KDEinit but works thereafter). IceWM and some other small WMs work but applications don't start there either. I tried first with my own network installation which contains some specialities (LDAP auth, common /usr/local via NFS...) but even the vanilla installation from the DVD (Build 0330) shows this behaviour. I tried nouveau and nVidia drivers for my Geforce GT 630 and both showed identical behaviour. This renders 42.3 totally useless!!! I searched for similar bug reports and can't believe I'm the only one with such problems. It's an ordinary Fujitsu ESPRIMO P920 with a SSD - nothing special. I attached strace logs of firefox and inkscape. Firefox additionally wrote ExceptionHandler::GenerateDump cloned child ExceptionHandler::WaitForContinueSignal waiting for continue signal... 12735 ExceptionHandler::SendContinueSignalToChild sent continue signal to child Speicherzugriffsfehler (Speicherabzug geschrieben) to the console. Inkscape gives only the last line. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

Thanks, Michal. What about
commit 43904c9c5a0f5750a03a9bd8c96ccda182eb5a9a ... Should we add this as well?
Well, the `XListInputDevices` should no longer fail, unless there is broken/malicious X server talking to it. So in most cases it shouldn't matter. But I guess adding it as well won't hurt. I'll add it to the submission. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
