https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=779112 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=779112#c0 Summary: memtest gives "too small lower memory" Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 12.2 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Minor Priority: P5 - None Component: Bootloader AssignedTo: jsrain@suse.com ReportedBy: hiller@mpia.de QAContact: jsrain@suse.com Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:15.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/15.0 I installed memtest86 from the repositories. In opposite to opensuse <=12.1 with it's grub1 the memtest did not appear into the boot loader menu. I insertrd it into grub.cnf by writing a file with the necessary lines into /etc/grub.d/ grub.cnf now has: menuentry "Memory test (memtest86+)" { insmod part_msdos insmod ext2 set root='hd0,msdos2' linux16 /boot/memtest.bin } The memtest appears in the boot-menu on boot, but gives the error mesage: error: too small lower memory (0x99110 > ox91800) I tried several other memtest installations (even 5.0b); nothing worked. But the memtest from the opensuse install- and live-CDs do work. I googled around and found that the problem is not new. Are there workarounds? Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Insert memtest into the grubs2 boot menu 2. boot 3. Does not happen in live CDs Actual Results: memtest does not work in grub2 boot menu -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
