Please follow the documentation [2] and add the logs from your system. At least something should be in /var/log/messages.
Will do, as soon as I have my machine to reproduce this with at hands. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Hard lockups A hard lockup may occur as well; these are usually due to hardware problems (or excessive abuse of the hardware by some poorly written driver). If this happens, you're in trouble. You can stop reading now, and we wish you good luck in debugging this.
I've done a small test matrix, so see whether suspend works with/without the device. In all cases I simply issued 'powersave -U': not attached attached Console only OK (OK) KDE OK failed With the device attached when logging in only at the console it works, too, but it takes longer. After issuing 'powersave -U' I have to wait 1-2 minutes in front of a dark screen showing 's2disk: Snapshotting system'. Random key presses (Magic-SysRQ, Ctrl-Alt-Del, Backspace, Ctrl-C) don't seem to do anything, but letters typed show up on the screen. The system eventually suspends. For resuming I have to wait at the same place but eventually everything's back to where it was before. Trying to suspend with the device attached and logged into a KDE session I again get 's2disk: Snapshotting system' appears and the moon LED on the notebook is blinking (which it wasn't in the console case). However, key presses don't cause any reaction and letters typed don't even show up. The machine doesn't react to anything, only powercycling helps. /var/log/messages shows the following right before hanging: --- snip --- [...] Sep 4 14:25:36 merceile kernel: [ 584.676579] tvp5150 6-005c: tvp5150am1 detected. Should now be resolved in the 11.4 release.
Suspend to disk with the device plugged in still fails. This was tested on a fresh openSUSE 11.4 installation. None of the workarounds described above was in place.
