[Bug 772028] New: /sbin/service broken for services not shipping a .service systemd file
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=772028 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=772028#c0 Summary: /sbin/service broken for services not shipping a .service systemd file Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 12.2 Version: Factory Platform: Other OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Basesystem AssignedTo: lnussel@suse.com ReportedBy: vuntz@suse.com QAContact: qa-bugs@suse.de CC: fcrozat@suse.com Found By: --- Blocker: --- Since July 4th [1], /sbin/service is using the return value of this command to know if a service exists (if booted with systemd): systemctl --quiet --lines=0 status "$rc.service" > /dev/null 2>&1 However, this doesn't always return 0 even when the service exists. So this is just wrong. And so /sbin/service cannot be used for several services (nfs and xinetd are two simple examples).
