[Bug 1087284] New: Wireless key doesn't enable/disable wlan on Fujitsu U7x7 Laptops
http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1087284 Bug ID: 1087284 Summary: Wireless key doesn't enable/disable wlan on Fujitsu U7x7 Laptops Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Distribution Version: Leap 15.0 Hardware: x86-64 OS: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Kernel Assignee: kernel-maintainers@forge.provo.novell.com Reporter: alexander_naumov@opensuse.org QA Contact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- It seems that kernel 4.12 doesn't send an event. You can see that by running
libinput debug-events It doesn't handle any events by pressing Fn+F5 (F5 is wireless key). Wireless LED doesn't change its state.
However it's possible to disable wireless LED's state manually (if it was enable before) with rfkill(1): # rfkill list 0: phy0: Wireless LAN Soft blocked: no Hard blocked: no # rfkill block 0 # rfkill list 0: phy0: Wireless LAN Soft blocked: yes Hard blocked: no I tested it with disabled Bluetooth in BIOS. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

Could you try the kernel in OBS Kernel:stable repo and see whether it works with the recent kernel? If it works, check which input device corresponds and who created it.
I tried Kernel:stable (4.15.13) and Kernel:HEAD (4.16 rc7-1). The problem is still there. No events in userland. However, I found the patch: https://spinics.net/lists/platform-driver-x86/msg14606.html Can you create the new package with this diff for me? I can (would like) test it. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

At best, build a kernel by yourself :) The proposed patch above will be unlikely landing to the upstream as is. Some beautification was requested in the thread. So we can't take the patch as is to openSUSE kernel, in anyway... -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

A test kernel is being built in OBS home:tiwai:bnc1087284 repo. Once after the build finishes (it'll take an hour or so), the package should appear at: http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/home:/tiwai:/bnc1087284/standard/
Please give it a try later.
Hey, thanks a lot! Your package solve this problem ;-) Now we have in userland: -event7 KEYBOARD_KEY +3.51s KEY_RFKILL (247) pressed event7 KEYBOARD_KEY +3.51s KEY_RFKILL (247) released ...and we can enable/disable wifi. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
