https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=851873 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=851873#c0 Summary: Cannot suspend system Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 13.1 Version: Final Platform: HP OS/Version: openSUSE 13.1 Status: NEW Severity: Critical Priority: P5 - None Component: Kernel AssignedTo: kernel-maintainers@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: midgoon@gmail.com QAContact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- Created an attachment (id=568753) --> (http://bugzilla.novell.com/attachment.cgi?id=568753) This attachment includes cpuinfo.txt, dmesg.txt, lspci.txt, lsusb.txt, messages.txt, pm-suspend.log, rpm.txt (Software already installed), Xorg.0.log.txt. User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:25.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/25.0 I cannot suspend my laptop with openSUSE 13.1 with kernel-desktop-3.11.6-4.1.x86_64. However, when I had openSUSE 12.3 with kernel-desktop-3.7.10-1.16.1.x86_64.rpm. I had cleaned install of openSUSE 13.1 from KDE Live. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Go to KDE's menu 2. Click "Leave" 3. Select "Sleep" (choice mean for Suspend to RAM not to disk) 4. Push "Enter" button or "AC power" button to back to work. 5. See how screen is black, but "Uppercases" button works (enable, disable led), that's not kernel panic. Actual Results: Black screen, force reboot to start system again. (Push AC power button 3-4 seconds) Expected Results: Suspend to RAM perfectly with new kernels. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Created an attachment (id=584401) --> (http://bugzilla.novell.com/attachment.cgi?id=584401) [details] With these settings, the problem disappears
I really think that is a KDE related issue
Sounds like https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=864305, which also contains links to packages that should fix it. In short, this is no problem with either suspend or resume. KDE locks the session and requires a password to unlock it but doesn't show a password input field. Other workarounds: - enable "Require Password After" in the Screenlocker settings - disable "Lock screen on resume" in the PowerManagement settings ("Advanced Options") -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
