Do i understand correctly that panel doesn't autohide at all? Or there is some other quirk?
The panel did not autohide at all. [Note the tense] This morning, I wondered whether the problem was limited to the position of the bar - I always have it on the right of the screen - so I moved it to the bottom. Autohide now worked! I've moved it all round the screen and autohide now works in all locations. I don't understand why moving the bar "fixed" the problem; simply altering settings in the same location provided no cure. I reckon this can be marked as "resolved". -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

Would sound like this upstream bug to me: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=340549 Possibly related: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=339323 I.e. the panel doesn't auto-hide because it is actually placed 1 pixel away from the screen edge because of a bug. A fix for that is currently in review, and will hopefully be in 5.3. https://git.reviewboard.kde.org/r/123136/ -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

Hi Graham, if it works fine now, would you like to close this issue? Thank you for your help!
Sorry to say that the problem returned although a quick shift of the bar from one side of the screen to the other cleared it. Judging by Wolfgang's comment, I assume this report will be marked resolved and reference made to the KDE bug report upstream? -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

Graham, if you're using up-to-date x86_64 Tumbleweed, can you test these 2 rpms:
http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/KDE:/Frameworks5/openSUSE_Factory/ x86_64/plasma5-workspace-libs-5.2.2-56.1.x86_64.rpm
http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/KDE:/Frameworks5/openSUSE_Factory/ x86_64/plasma5-workspace-5.2.2-56.1.x86_64.rpm
These are from the devel project, and contain the backported fix.
Added those on my test machine and they worked. Also installed Plasma-5 on another machine, verified the problem also existed on that, updated from those rpms and the problem went away there also. Apart from the task-bar seeming a mite sluggish to reappear, all seems OK with this bug. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
