The first error screenshot shows nothing but that the kernel couldn't find the root device, and it doesn't show why it couldn't. The second screenshot indicates some issue found in GRUB; i.e. it's already a problem before kernel. A possibly hardware problem? If 42.2 works and installed, you can upgrade to 42.3 kernel while keeping the rest as is. You can fetch the 42.3 GM kernel package from: http://download.opensuse.org/distribution/leap/42.3/repo/oss/ and simply do zypper in kernel-default-xxx.rpm. If this works, the next step would be 42.3 update kernel: http://download.opensuse.org/update/leap/42.3/oss/ Then the next step would be 15.0 kernel: http://download.opensuse.org/distribution/leap/15.0/repo/oss/ BTW, when you test multiple kernels, it'd be better to increase the multi-version setup in /etc/zypp/zypp.conf beforehand.
