If 42.2 works and installed, you can upgrade to 42.3 kernel while keeping the
rest as is.

You can fetch the 42.3 GM kernel package from:
  http://download.opensuse.org/distribution/leap/42.3/repo/oss/
and simply do zypper in kernel-default-xxx.rpm.

If this works, the next step would be 42.3 update kernel:
  http://download.opensuse.org/update/leap/42.3/oss/

Then the next step would be 15.0 kernel:
  http://download.opensuse.org/distribution/leap/15.0/repo/oss/

BTW, when you test multiple kernels, it'd be better to increase the
multi-version setup in /etc/zypp/zypp.conf beforehand.  Edit the file, and
change the line containing 
  multiversion.kernels = latest,latest-1,running

to more versions, e.g.
  multiversion.kernels = latest,latest-1,latest-2,latest-3,running
