[Bug 745233] New: Powering off a virtual machine causes virt-manager to lose its connection with libvirtd
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=745233 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=745233#c0 Summary: Powering off a virtual machine causes virt-manager to lose its connection with libvirtd Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 12.1 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 12.1 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Other AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: bart.vanassche@gmail.com QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:9.0.1) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/9.0.1 See summary. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Instal virt-manager-0.9.0-5.2.1.x86_64 and yast2-vm-2.21.4-1.1.1.x86_64. 2. Use /usr/bin/vm-install to create two Linux virtual machines. 3. Power on both virtual machines and make sure the console of both virtual machines is visible by clicking on the "Open" button in the "Virtual Machine Manager" window. 4. In one of the two virtual machines, log in as root and type the command "poweroff". Actual Results: Both console windows are closed and the virt-manager state changes to "localhost (QEMU) - Not Connected" Expected Results: One console window is closed and the other console window remains open. After making virt-manager reconnect to libvirtd, the state of the virtual machines seems correct: one powered off and one still running. Reopening the console of the virtual machine that is still running works fine. Note: "autoconnect" was enabled in the virt-manager preferences. The following error message occurs hundreds of times in libvirtd.log (not sure this is related to the above): 4473: error : interfaceGetXMLDesc:411 : internal error could not get interface XML description: other error -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

I am not seeing this problem. Try upgrading to the latest channel updates (virt-manager 0.9.1) and also the latest libvirt and try again.
Confirmed - I'm not seeing this issue anymore either. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
