Card: NVIDIA GF100GL [Quadro 4000] Driver: nouveau, X.org server 7.6_1.18.3 Monitors: Iiyama ProLite B2783QSU Power indicator blue=normal, orange=power-saving DP-1 connected 1440x2560+0+0 DP-2 connected 1440x2560+1440+0 Xfce + nouveau stable without screensaver ----------------------------------------- Xfce and nouveau are stable when the Xfce screensaver is turned off. openSUSE -> Settings -> Settings Manager -> Screensaver -> Disable Screen Saver The monitors stay lit permanently, and for a period of 9 days the command journalctl -b -2 --no-pager | grep nouveau shows: oct. 14 17:46:58 titan kernel: nouveau 0000:03:00.0: fifo: INTR 01000000: 00000005 oct. 15 06:55:39 titan kernel: nouveau 0000:03:00.0: fifo: INTR 01000000: 00000005 ... oct. 16 03:40:00 titan kernel: nouveau 0000:03:00.0: fifo: INTR 01000000: 00000005 ... oct. 16 21:49:18 titan kernel: nouveau 0000:03:00.0: fifo: INTR 01000000: 00000005 oct. 17 14:39:56 titan kernel: nouveau 0000:03:00.0: fifo: INTR 01000000: 00000005 oct. 18 14:32:34 titan kernel: nouveau 0000:03:00.0: fifo: INTR 01000000: 00000005 oct. 19 11:13:18 titan kernel: nouveau 0000:03:00.0: fifo: INTR 01000000: 00000005 ... oct. 20 02:45:58 titan kernel: nouveau 0000:03:00.0: fifo: INTR 01000000: 00000005 oct. 21 05:32:28 titan kernel: nouveau 0000:03:00.0: fifo: INTR 01000000: 00000005 ... oct. 22 04:59:00 titan kernel: nouveau 0000:03:00.0: fifo: INTR 01000000: 00000005 ... oct. 23 02:55:27 titan kernel: nouveau 0000:03:00.0: fifo: INTR 01000000: 00000005 Xfce + nouveau loses monitors when screensaver enabled ------------------------------------------------------ I booted, logged in and turned on the screensaver openSUSE -> Settings -> Settings Manager -> Screensaver -> 1. Display Modes -> Blank screen only with options Blank after 10 minutes, Cycle after 10 minutes, no Lock Screen 2. Advanced -> Display Power Management, with Power Management Enabled, Standby After 9 minutes, Suspend After 10 minutes, and Off After 11 minutes. Quick power-off not selected 3. Advanced -> Fading and Colormaps, Fade to Black when blanking, fade duration 3 seconds. See files screensaver.display-modes.jpg and screensaver.advanced.jpg After some 10+ minutes of inactivity (not timed exactly) both monitors go black with no fading. On clicking the Ctl key I recover only the right monitor. The left monitor stays black with power indicator orange. I re-booted the machine and logged in a user. This user does nothing. When the screensaver blanked the monitors, I moved the mouse and this was sufficient to recover both monitors. After 7 hours, moving the mouse was no longer sufficient. The right monitor stays blank, although both monitors show the blue power indicator. I attach the output of command journalctl --no-pager -b 0 | grep -E "nouveau|lightdm" in file screensaver.log Roger Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Xfce + nouveau with two monitors 2. Turn on screensaver 3. Wait for screensaver to act Actual Results: Screensaver blanks monitors, but they are not recoverable on user action. Expected Results: User recovers use of monitors when mouse moved. I can't find anywhere on this web page https://bugzilla.opensuse.org/enter_bug.cgi?product=openSUSE%20Distribution&format=guided&version=Leap%2042.2 to attach files. I'll try again after filing this. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
