[Bug 239508] New: Memeory allocated to ramdisk is never swapped
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=239508 Summary: Memeory allocated to ramdisk is never swapped Product: openSUSE 10.2 Version: Final Platform: i586 OS/Version: SuSE Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Documentation AssignedTo: rwalter@novell.com ReportedBy: mvdv@spamcop.net QAContact: ke@novell.com Can the ramddisk documentation (/usr/src/linux/Documentation/ramdisk.txt) be updated to reflect comment #2 of Jeff Mahoney in bug 239190? If possible could some (probably imprecise) guidance indicate at what point the kernel starts to have trouble operating? In my case a 840MB-850MB ramdisk caused a machine with 2GB memory to 'freeze', although this machine operates quite happily with 1.7GB of memory used and not swapped. This isn't a kernel bug, there are _lots_ of documentation files in the kernel source tree that are out of date, we (suse) are not responsible for updating them. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
