I found that the Live-install progress bar is not updated 
during "Copying root filesystem" phase, which is the longest part of the
install.
Using the automated test result videos, I bisected this to have started
19-Nov-2010 with Build0882
which points to this commit as most likely cause:

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Start any LiveCD install

Actual Results:  
progress stops at 16% for several minutes and then jumps to approx 90%

Expected Results:  
progress bar should update more smoothly as before Build0882
