The watchdog should not be freaking out just because a program is reading it's /dev directory structure. The virus scanner is not trying to write to the directory, it is simply just trying to read from it. This should not cause watchdog to reboot the machine unexpectedly. With the watchdog on the blacklist, the virus scanner completes the scan normally and without fault. No hangs or crashes of any kind is exhibited by the machine or the kernel.
